Room 1... is very large and southwest facing, catching all the afternoon sun. It is beautifully decorated in soft lichen with the skirtings, door frames and window sills stripped back to reveal the warm old pine.
It has 2 sets of large windows and overlooks our pretty front garden.
In spring the windows are framed with the pink blossom of Clematis Montana, full of bird song. A Superking size bed and two armchairs make a very comfortable room. The en suite bathroom is charming with sunken bath and shower over, soft fluffy towels and lots of candles...
Room 2...
is large and northeast facing, catching all the morning sun. It is the softest apple white with stripped pine and overlooks
Callaly crags and Castle hill.
It has a Kingsize and a single bed, so can be used as a double or twin room. The single has
large cushions and makes a very comfortable sofa in the day.
The
en suite bathroom is huge! Decorated in beautiful blues with a hand
forged cheval mirror and towel rail, soft fluffy towels and candlesticks
- it is a striking bathroom. An Indian wool rug compliments the painted
floor, and the lovely deep bath is double-ended bath for romantic bathing... It also has a shower over.
Both light and spacious rooms have period fireplaces and are simply and elegantly decorated in soft colours and
natural fabrics giving a timeless country feel. Large beds are dressed
with fine Egyptian cotton, down and feather duvets and electric
blankets in the cooler months.
Well stocked hospitality trays offer all kinds of teas and coffees, fresh milk and biscuits. We even have our own private supply of fabulous spring water!
Each
room has a radio and a DVD player with a large selection of films and
comedy series for you to choose from. We have chosen not to connect to
terrestrial TV in bedrooms to maintain the peacefulness our guests come here to
enjoy.
Bathrooms are bright and spacious, and have showers and baths for those
who enjoy a hot soak by candlelight after a long day... I have made my own range of luxurious Aromatherapy bath products for you to enjoy, using organic essential oils (parabens/sls/sles free)
Your sunny dining lounge has everything you need, books, games, comfy sofas and lots of tourist information including walking and cycling guides - the perfect place to relax with friends.
We don't offer supper, but you're most welcome to bring your own picnic supper and eat at the table - there is cutlery and crockery for you to use, and a small fridge for you to chill your wine and beer!
Your breakfast table looks over our pretty front garden so you may watch our huge collection of garden birds enjoying their breakfast with you!
All around the house we have
Swallows and Martins nesting in
the eaves and Sparrows in the Clematis and their chattering is a delight... Please feel free to enjoy the garden, take a blanket and relax on a bench with a cup of tea and your book, or simply sit and watch the day unfold listening to wonderful Callaly birdsong...
The garden is a sensory delight! As you round the corner you follow the cobble path lined with Lavender. Clematis and Jasmine clothe the walls, and we have a beautiful collection of David Austin English Roses which we cut for the house so you may enjoy their exquisite beauty and fragrance up close. In spring our Daffodils, Cherry and Apple blossom are a joy!
If you plan to spend your days walking and exploring we have a great range of books and maps for you to use. You may want a simple packed lunch @ £5 per head, we can lend a daysack if you need one and we supply the flasks! There are many good places to eat, drink and browse a short 15-20 minute drive away.
