"We are sooo relaxed"
Lovely stay, made to feel very welcome, fantastic location and used it as a base for going out to both the coast and the local countryside. Fantastic area. Relaxed, clean, informal, friendly house and loved the added bonus of having a massage whilst we were there. Lyn was excellent and 4 months later I am still feeling the benefits on my shoulder. We could only stay 4 days - fully booked so we did not have the option to stay longer!

"A lovely B&B in a quite location".
Our host was friendly and breakfasts were hearty and of a good portion. As there are only two rooms you have the chance to chat to the other guests over breakfast and swap ideas and experiences of places to visit. Also guests were required to wear slippers in the house which made the experience much more homely. The rooms are large with thoughtful personal touches such as scented candles and bespoke furniture.
The view from our bedroom was over a small field inhabited by a quiet flock of sheep which were great to watch along with the large variety of wild birds who came visiting.
Places to eat and visit are not too far and our host had great knowledge of the area.
The stay was good value for the location and luxury on offer. Well recommended, and a return visit is a must!

"A totally fabulous short break!" We had never before holidayed in Northumbria and used this short holiday to visit its many scenic and historical highlights. Callaly Cottage Retreat could not have been a better base to use, as its name implies! We received a warm welcome, enjoyed the high quality of the cottage and luxuriated in the comfortable bed and bathroom!
The views from the cottage are just lovely and the remoteness helped us to simply unwind. Lyn did everything to look after us and the breakfasts truly helped!

"Tranquil retreat in the countryside near the coast"We had a very peaceful and refreshing weekend in this cottage B&B, with a warm welcome and great breakfasts! It is a good base for walking and exploring the Northumbrian coast and countryside - we did a bit of both - and I also found it comfortable and relaxing to stay in and around the house and garden. It is a beautiful house in lovely countryside. There were thoughtful touches like the range of teas etc (with fresh milk) in the room, nice bathroom supplies and rugs for sitting out in the garden.

We had a lovely few days at the cottage. We received a very warm welcome from Lyn and the cat. The garden has a bird table which was full of birds all day long and swallows were nesting in the porch. A bird lovers treat! From the moment you arrive Lyn cannot do enough for you, the whole stay was just very relaxing with tasty breakfasts every morning and a very large, comfortable bed to fall into at night. We had a wonderful time here with a large comfortable en suite room. Breakfasts were well above average for a B & B, including mouthwatering kippers. Our hosts went out of their way to see that we were well catered for.
Quiet location with lots of bird song in the background.The bedroom was big and well furnished whilst the bathroom too was big with a sunken bath. A large dining room with an array of books.

A really enjoyable few days in a comfortable, friendly, well-equipped b&b with everything one might need and set in beautiful countryside. A very warm welcome - we felt at ease immediately. Very relaxing, good for bird watching! A fairly central location for exploring. The host was extremely welcoming and helpful with great hints and tips of the area. The rooms were large, comfortable and very clean & tidy.
